ABOUT ME

Welcome!

I’m a licensed professional counselor with over 30 years experience helping individuals and couples build skills and learn tools that will radically change their lives for the better.  I currently am a therapist in Eugene, Oregon and provide coaching and counseling services by phone and via Skype.

I lean towards mind-body interventions that have clinical evidence backing them up—if it’s a tool that has been well researched and proven to make a significant difference in people’s lives, I will learn it and bring it to you!  I believe in creating the context for change by making a commitment to self-compassion and acceptance, then, as we deepen those skills, let’s roll up our sleeves and get to work on creating lasting growth and change!

I have advanced training in the following areas:  Emotional Brain Training (EBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Emotionally focused couples therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MBCBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

I recently published a book, “Hold On To Yourself: How to Stay Cool in Hot Conversations” with my friend and colleague, Julia Menard. Our goal was to bring skills and tools to people looking to improve their relationships and move forward in their lives.  I’m working on another book now with another friend and colleague, Connie Henderson, tentatively titled “The Well-Being Workout”.

The purpose I hold near and dear in my life is to, best I can, be a loving presence. My goal in service to others is to do my best to share the what we know can make a radical difference in the quality of our “one precious life”.  I so look forward to working with you toward this end.
